What to Expect at Your Child’s First Dental Appointment
Simons Pediatric Dentistry’s office has a child-friendly staff and a waiting room with entertaining books and toys. Our goal is to make you and your child as relaxed and comfortable as possible.
Your child’s first dentist appointment at Simons Pediatric Dentistry will include a “meet and greet”, so that your child can become familiar with the dentist, the chair, and the exam room in general.
If the child is doing well, we may be able to do a more in-depth exam. The first exam could, but may not always, include the following:
- Examination of the teeth, bite, and gums
- Gentle cleaning and polishing of teeth
- Discussion of correct brushing techniques
- Question and answer session
- Assessment of the need for fluoride and/or sealants
At the end of the first dental appointment, you can schedule a return visit. Simons Pediatric Dentistry prefers to see children every 6 months. This allows us to monitor oral health changes as the child grows, and to get the child comfortable with visiting the dentist on a regular basis.
